Quidco Cashback Site - Will It Last?

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this post, so appologies in advance if I've got it wrong :)

I joined Quidco cashback site on 11 July 2006 and on that date noticed that there were 1243 merchants listed, however when I logged on today it had gone down to 1220 merchants, so thats a loss of 23 merchants in less than a month

Is this normal? The site seems to give alot of cashback for very little effort, ie ive made just over £300 cashback in that time and will make another £120 at the end of the month with car insurance and car breakdown cover cash backs if these are still going.

What do you all think?

If you are concerned go to referers board and post a question on the Quidco thread, as Quidco read the thread and reply to questions.Im sure they will explain.

Most cashback sites seem to loose & gain merchants and alter the cashback so dont think its anything to worry about.

Some merchants withdraw the cash and wont pay so Quidco may have dropped them, some merchants may have been getting too many hits so pulled out.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T

But they still have over 1,200 merchants.

If you've joined mycashback/greasypalm, you will know that they too have merchants come and go (for instance, none of them have Argos anymore).

I think when they start getting to less than 500 merchants then we can start to panic, but there is still big money to be made by all partirs concerned, the merchants, quidco and the customer themselves.

More likely those merchants were messing quidco about (ie, quidco weren;t getting the cash) so they've been dropped.

I bought a mobile phone contract from Carphonewarehouse via quidco ,but I have not recieved the moneyback.
Quidco are not interested, they say that their system automatically chases the retailer once a month and there is nothing else they can do about it. As a result of this ,I am £30 lighter. I keep chasing Quidco every month, but all I get is their "standard" reply.
I now use Rpoints, where I have NOT encountered any problems.
I will not recommend Quidco to any of my friends.

Yes, go with rpoints if you want 50% cashback....

I made several purchases via quidco totalling over £400 never got a penny from them, I stick with rpoints now they [STRIKE]pay[/STRIKE] offer less but at least they pay

£106 received and £50 in enquiries at the moment, so 50% with rpoints would leave me with £78 so still £28 better off already. horses for courses
  • Back when i started it kept going down to about 1080 ish, then it jumped up to over 1200.

Only been with them about 8 months , but to date i havent had a prob.
Even got paid for items i did a "collect at store" at PCworld, but never collected.

I think Carphone Warehouse are to blame here more than Quidco.
I'm still waiting on £44 from Carphone Warehouse from December 2005 which I've long since given up on.

I've received cashback for EVERY other purchase I've done through quidco though (including several of the ones where you earn a lot more back than you pay out).
I'm not a huge user, but they've paid me £140 in the past 9 months.

I've noticed the odd shop disappear lately (Orange seems to have gone), but on the other hand a lot of shops have increased their cashback percentage, so it's all swings and roundabouts.

You only have to look at the 'tiered' payments easymobile made to Qudco users last month to realise that Quidco is putting a substantial amount of business their company's way! The original cashback figure of £8 per sim ordered eventually rose to £19 per sim. I think the pertinent question would probably be 'Will Quidco affect the business of the cashback sites that don't give back 100% cashback?'

I rate Quidco very highly. Over 6 months, I have made over £900 from them, and although in that period I have made £200 of 'queries', 50% of those have been paid, with the others outstanding.

I think that if you use Quidco, you have to be willing to wait! Some payments I have received over 5 months later, and other have been paid in weeks.

As for Carphone Warehouse, they are one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever dealt with, and it does not surprise me they do not honour their cash back. I was one of those stung by the iPOD nano deal they did last month, where they took my money within a 24 hours (£100) and then never delivered the goods. Yet still they won't refund the money, 6 weeks on.

Interestingly though, I have bought phones from e2save/onestopphoneshop for the last 5 years, earning 100s via Quidco and they have paid within 1 month every time (£37.50 each contract) - but they are both just a different trading name for Carphone Warehouse, so not quite sure why I've been so 'lucky'!
