Bad experience with Comet Old Kent Road London

We had a bad experience with the Comet of Old Kent Road London.
We purchased a Hoover vacuum cleaner that broke after only 4 months. We went to Comet who told us to call the Hoover number, get an authorisation and come back again.
When we rang Hoover they were utterly puzzled because, they said, Comet could have made that phone call and saved us a trip.
We went back today (02/04) and were told they would have to reconfirm the authorisation number and because Hoover were closed, we would have to go back on Tuesday.
Hoover's customer service always closes at 6pm anyway and we are still at work at that time!
The customer service assistant was rude, unhelpful, uninterested. She did not even suggest us to leave the hoover there, so they could make the phone call and ring us to go and collect the money on Tuesday.
We told her quite clearly we will not ever buy at Comet again, but she clearly wasn't interested.
I will advise all my mates to stay well clear of Comet, at least the Old Kent Road one!:mad::mad:

Your contract is with Comet and not with Hoover, under the sale of goods act if the machine is faulty within 6 months it is upto the retailer to prove there wasn't an inherent fault, after 6 months it is upto you to do this.
Go back and tell them that it is their responsibility to either repair, replace or refund as they see fit. If they repair they must not allow it to take a inconveniant time period (personally 3 weeks to sort the problem out IMO is fair, 4 weeks is pushing it and anything longer is inconveniant)Always ask ACAS0
