Anyone bought from ilgs.co.uk?

I'm trying to find a good/reliable/honest on-line source for a Toshiba laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro L550-17V ~£650). Many of the sources I have found have horrendous reviews regarding after-sales problems if the order does not go fine first time!
Has anyone any experience of buying from ilgs.co.uk (ilgs apparently stands for I love going shopping!)? Prices look good, website looks good, after sales LOOKS good, but can't find any reviews.
Any help/advice gratefully received.

Just bumping this up in the hope that someone may have some experience of this company.
I'm not by any means new to internet shopping, but do admit to being nervous when it comes to buying an item in the £650-£700 range - especially as so many (well-known) internet retailers are now including clauses in their T&Cs saying, words to the effect, that if any faults arise after 7 days from delivery then it's the buyers responsibility to sort this out directly with the manufacturer using the product guarantee (at variance with my understanding of the sale of goods act!).
Please help if you can.0 -
According to Web of Trust this site has a poor reputation.

Why don't you stick to established and trusted retailers like Play, Amazon or Ebuyer?0 -
The Toshiba L550-17V can be purchased for about £650 from Dabs.com and Insight, perhaps you should consider those stores as they seem more trustworthy and reliable.Shin: a device for finding furniture in the dark.

ilgs or I love going shopping website are really very good. I purchased a new pc from them being a ( hp 20 inch touch-smart 210 series) they where new in 2010 and where sold by QVC for a extra £200 just before Christmas. QVC mentioned they had sold over 250 plus of these. So it pays to shop around for the better deals. Because i purchased this over a busy time i ask them for a delivery day/date after the holiday. They never answered my question, but in fairness i received the goods the day after they started working after Christmas. I wanted to give them a feedback on there services but this is hard to do unfortunately. I received the pc with the free shipping option that's--- a bonus if your not in a hurry..they are very fast shippers on there goods and very cheap compared to others websites. There is only one downside to them as they make a credit card charge on your order---This is out of order in my opinion--but taking everything into consideration you can still be pounds in on there prices. 5***** sellers0

Having used ILGS for the first time, I appear to have been lead up the garden path - the website said 56 items in stock at a good price, but when I tried to purchase 6, firstly the website crashed after processing my order without taking payment, so I rang to make the credit card payment and was asked to go back on-line to do so. On successfully getting my basket to the checkout and entering my credit card details, I was shocked to print off the order and find that not only does 6 small SD cards cost £11.30 to ship standard UK post, there's also a £13 credit card surcharge !! I've now just had a call from ILGS to say they only have 2 in stock and the other 4 will be shipped in 5-6 days, so I'll wait to see what arrives and when....... in summary, what looks like the deal of the day is far from it !0
-
I've received two of the six SD cards this morning, having selected the standard 3-5 day postage option it's only taken 24 hours to get here, so 10/10 for that ! The large box and air pockets they were packed in was a bit o.t.t for something that is small enough to lay within the palm of your hand, but now we'll wait for the remaining four to arrive in 5-6 days - I'll keep you posted.
Oh by the way, the £11.30 postage charge, and £13.17 credit card surcharge were also subjected to 20% VAT, so even less of a bargain !0 -
Well blow me down with a feather, the 4 outstanding cards arrived today - again 10/10 for effort ! All in all a bit cheeky on the hidden charges front, but can't fault the service - to put closure to this, the SD cards have turned out to be more expensive than elsewhere on the internet, so 'love going shopping' with caution.0

As the original poster, I've just been email-alerted to the new entries in this thread. As a result of some of the original replies (a belated thanks guys) I didn't risk ilgs but actually bought instead from Insight, at a good price, with no unexpected charges, and with helpful customer service. However, even they used a 'financial instrument': their in-stock figure of well over a thousand items (for one £600 computer - do the maths!) was of course a reflection of their 'stock options' (people they had agreements with from whom they could buy when required) rather than their actual stock. Makes a mockery of the in-stock numbers, but nevertheless, in my case, all went smoothly.
But my real reason for replying here is to proffer the following suggestion to anyone buying high-capacity flash-cards (e.g. SDHC cards over 2GB) or USB memory sticks. There are a lot of fakes out there (EBay-ers particularly be warned). Unscrupulous companies bought up manufacturer's reject cards, or cheap lower-capacity cards (e.g. 4/8/16 GB) and then reprogram the boot sector to return the info, when interrogated by normal computer software) that the card is 32GB (say). What then happens when you write to the card is that, once the card is (really) full, your program starts to overwrite data from the beginning of the card, while telling you that you're simply adding to the already existing files/folders. You only find a problem when you try to access the first data you wrote and discover it's not there.
I strongly recommend everyone buying high-capacity cards or USB-sticks to download the FREE "h2testw_1.4" program (h2testw.exe) from the internet (google it) and run it on the card. What this program does is fill up all empty space on the card by writing as many individual 1GB files as it can. It then reads these files back and verifies that they correspond to the original data written. Doing this as soon as you receive the new card could save you a lot of money or, perhaps more importantly, a lot of heartache when you discover you've lost some of your best photos etc.
Sorry if I'm teaching grandmother to suck eggs here - was just hoping the info might be helpful.
And also, I should declare that I have absolutely no connection with the author of the above program.

Was looking to buy a large quantity of network cables and ILGS were by far the cheapest I could find, initially I was a little sceptical due to the fact the website isn't very polished plus I'd never heard of them before.
After calling the number on the website (I would never order from a retailer that doesn't at least supply a phone number and answer it) I was told everything was in stock and this convinced me to place a 3-5 day delivery web-order late on Wednesday night. I'm very happy to say the goods have just arrived (Friday) and are actually of a higher grade than I was expecting - most impressed.
Finally I used a debit card and didn't pay any surcharge, might be worth considering...0 -
Hi,
I have had a nightmare with ILGS when trying to return a faulty product.
Firstly they tell me I cannot send it to them, I have to go directly to the manufacturer. The manufacturer said different and I had to go through the reseller. On telling ILGS this they said that was ok and to fill in an online returns form.
After doing this the communication stopped. They are replying to none of my emails and are not picking up the phones at all. It's a real joke as we are a hardware supplier and bought the product for one of out clients. We have spent thousands of pounds with them but sadly they don't seem to care about sorting any issues customers experience.
