Reed Employment Agency Head Office

Options
Hi
Can anyone locate the details for these guys? I want to complain but cannot find who or where to write/email to anywhere!

Basically the recruitment agent I went in to see at Reed has not once responded to any of my emails nor ever contacted me since I went in for a meeting with them over a month ago.
I have used a different branch of this company before and they were great- calls and interview offers daily with regular correspondance.
But this branch- NOTHING!

I have tried calling their office to obtain this info but they flat out refused unless I gave my name and the full details of what my complaint was about!

All help this greatly appreciated :)

maybe wouldnt say it as harshly but yea thats the reality... writing to head office isnt going to help.

they dont HAVE to find you a job but if they think you are suitable and they'd be able to find you a job easily they'll take you on... if however they decided perhaps you dont have the experience etc they aren't going to waste their time on you!

plus with the AMOUNT of people unemployed they really dont have time to respond to people who they cannot help.

Cant see how I am unemployable when I am a fully qualified mortgage advisor and they are currently advertising loads of mortgage advisor positions on their webiste?!?

I could understand that they are busy but as I have used them before and had a really good experience and lots of offers and interviews for them last time I used them- why should I accept that this time I do not even warrant a reply to my 3rd email in a month asking to get in touch?......

Thanks for the help on finding the contact details though guys- really helpful!

If I was feeling the way you are about them, i would turn up and ask them. They can't ignore you face-to-face. However, myself, I would not bother as they are an appallng agency. They make most of their money by advertising on behalf of other agencies and are not interested in employing directly.
You do have rights......but you still need common sense.

This is how financial recruitment agencies work.... i've had years of experience of them.. when they do call its only to ask if you have been put forward for any jobs so they can steal them.

Someone from Reed office called me last week after seeing my CV on Monster, she was from an office far from where I live so said she would send my stuff to an office nearer, I never heard anything. Sad to say that you only hear from agencies most of the time when you do not want to. Find a job and I bet they will call you every week, just in case you do not like it and leave and then they can try and sell a candidate to the company for a fat profit.

If you go to their website and look at the terms and conditions they provide the following:

    Registered Office
    Reed Online Ltd
    Academy Court
    94 Chancery Lane
    London
    WC2A 1DT
Company Number 6317279. Registered in the UK.

If this is the registered office then thats head office.

Maybe they just don't like you or think you will fit their current vacancies?

Also whilst they may be advertising for specific roles, that doesn't mean they have the vacancies. they like to build up databases of possible candidates for future business they may have. I temped for years and found some agencies are really good about keeping in contact whilst others only contact you to maintain figures and targets. You have to develop a thick skin and just get over it - times are hard - maybe it's better to think that you're not suited to their vacancies, you're over qualified or too experienced or would you like them saying you're not good enough (which would you prefer?)

Agencies have to register a certain amount of candidates each week and will advertise 'false' jobs in order to do so. They will also leave jobs on that have been filled to attract attention. This is why I quite working for a recruitment agency a few years ago.

I doubt very much that head office would do anything. Maybe go down there and see the consultant that dealt with you.

    Good luck.

I understand your frustration. I have had very similar experiences with numerous agencies. Travel to their office, wait around, fill out numerous forms, present all the relevant documentation, referees etc, computer tests, further grilling on the content of your CV...After two hours you get a handshake and business card and never hear from them again. I don't know how these agencies work, whether it is as some people suggest and they get commission for simply getting people on their books.

What happens when you phone and ask to speak to your consultant? TBH I've found that the only way to get a straight answer from agencies is by phoning. They will always have an excuse prepared or be just in the middle of typing their reply. Then again, some agencies will never let you speak to the right person, in that situation you can't always win. And how come they always withold their number if they do call you?

Good luck if you decide to go ahead with your complaint. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation is the representative body for many agencies and they have the code of conduct on their website. Your letter to Reed might hold some more weight if you can quote something from this or threaten to take it further and complain to the REC if they don't resolve your complaint.

I almost feel like complaining myself now, my last experience with an agency was terrible.
