Service charges during flat sale help

Afternoon all,
I'm selling my flat to my lodger and I'm wondering how the process of finalising the service charges works.
I contacted the local housing association and I have currently paid £288 ( this is £36 per month X8 months). There is also a £79 charge for repairs.
I have exchanged now on the flat with completion set for 25th May and I only completed on the flat 31st July last year so only 10 months less a few days.
I also saw a statement of charges summary from when I bought the flat to 31st March and this was £300 and that included the repairs cost so I'm presuming the final charges will be about £330-£350 maximum.
My solicitor has already received a £100 retention from me on advice of the association.
Also, my lodger (buyer) has received on his draft completion statement charges about apportionments which I presume are parts of service charge, this is £460 so I can't understand what he's paying and when my payments will end.
Any further information needed then please let me know.
Regards
BW

I could try to explain it all but there can be variations, particularly with Housing Associations, so it is best to ask your solicitor to explain the process in your case.
Normally you stop paying anything once you have sold the flat but adjustments are made on completion.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0
