extras on postage

ive recently put my extras up by £1.50 ontop of postage, it was usually £1. but with sales as slow as they are now ive not been buying jiffy envelopes at 4 for £2.99 or £1.99 depending on size. i just get them single now (have limited space to store even a few envelopes)

i state on all auctions now that if you dont like the postage cost then dont bid. and that it covers the price of envelope, time and petrol.

does this sound fair enough to you? would you mind paying an extra ?£1.50 on top?

I think this is perfectly fair to be honest, as you have to cover fees, time, petrol to post office and so the list goes on...£1.50 is reasonable, if people query it tell them you can take 50p off it and use a recycled envelope.

It really depends on how much the p and p is to start with. I wouldn't want to pay an extra £1.50 on top of postage of 32p, but I wouldn't blink at all if the postage was £5 and I was charged £6.50.

  • I charge a minimum postage rate of £1, some of my items only cost 32p to post but I think this charge is reasonable. I normally around 50p to £1 on top depending on the item but I do charge a little extra if it's something fragile &/or heavy as it may need extra packing.

on anything that costs 32p i actually only add on 50p. anything over that which is what i usually sell is now £1.50

sometimes i feel guilty a do a partial refund but this is usually when ive got my beer goggles on and have charged overthe odds x 2. its only happened a couple of times but i thought it mean if i charged what i did.

  • I think it's perfectly reasonable, but I wouldn't put the line in your auctions about how if people don't like it they shouldn't bid as, firstly, it draws attention to the "overcharging" (I know it's not overcharging, but I don't know what else to call it!) and, secondly, it implies that you've had complaints in the past.

Reasonable, some overcharge by much more. If people aren't willing to pay it they won't (or shouldn't) bid. I usually managed to get Jiffys in local £1 shop, 5 for £1. Saves buying too many at once.
One day I might be more organised...........
