What permission will the land need? I know it won't need planning permission, but i've been told it'll need residential permission?? I've tried the planning portal, and google but i can't find any info!?
Thanks!

Try Landmatters. A bit unconventional but used to helping people get permission to live on land they are farming. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

I know it won't need planning permission,
Why wouldn't it need Planning Permission?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
A mobile home up to dimensions of 20m X 6.8m that can be transported in no more than 2 sections is classed as a caravan, which (in my borough) does not need planning permission. Correct?

Planning permission is required for the carrying out of a building mining or engineering operation on under or over land or for a material change of use.
Placing a mobile home on land might not be classed as a building etc operation because it is a caravan and theoretically movable but surely siting a mobile home on land to live in it involves a material change of use that does require planning permission because you would be changing the use of the land from agriculture to residential or to agriculture and residential.RICHARD WEBSTER

Most councils have a very strict policy regarding changing the use of agricultural land. Don't expect them to just "rubber stamp" your application to site a mobile home.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
