Canon Camera Malfuntioning

I have a Canon Powershot A470 digital camera which over an year old. It had been very good until this weekend when it started to malfuntion. Whenever I take a picture, iot is coming as very very bright (over exposed). It is happening in all the modes. I usually use the Auto mode. I have tried resetting the camera to factory settings but the results are the same.
But when I shoot he videos, they are still good, the same as before.
The problem is worse when I shoot outdoors, the pictures are totally unreadable. When I use it in low light, for example indores, I can see the picture but there are some bright lines on the pictures.
I will atach a few pictures just to depict what I mean
Indoors
Outdoors
I was searching on the net, n I did come across something like a stuck shutter where the shutter does not comletely close??? I am comnfused
Is my camera dead? Or is there any way to fix it as it is out of warranty.
Any help please

Not worth repairing - Have you done a fresh BIOS upgrade on the camera?0

The Canon support website should have the latest firmware for your camera. I would have thought its PC-driven, so attach the USB cable and then run the programme...0

Thanks. After spending a lot of time, managed to find the version which was
Firmware Ver. 1.0.2.0
which I think is the latest (Although it states:: There are four known firmware versions 1.00e, 1.01a, 1.01b, and 1.02c)I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0
