Is there any chance you can increase your income? Overtime, surveys, part-time work etc? Just until you can clear a debt or two to free up money for the others.
I'm sorry you had to give up your ponies, but that is the best thing for your future.
Good luck xSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

What a day... went to my appointment and spoke to a lovely advisor who discussed my options. She feels that a Trust deed could be the way forward so she got some advice from a Insolvancy Practitioner who reckoned the Bank of Scotland would accept this option. We have no equitity in our house so providing a surveyor confirms this the IP will ask for £500 to declare no interest in the property. So hopefully I can get get this sorted once and for all.
A Debt management arrangement would probably need to be for 10 years and would really stretch me to pay it.
God it is really scary but she is going to write to my creditors for outstanding balances before i make a final decision.Ebay 2010 Challenge0 -

Basically if you could reduce your outgoings and up your income you may be able to do a dmp?
If you could offer say 300 a month to your creditors then with 14,000 debt that's 46 months which is 3 and 3/4 years approx. Obviously the numbers will vary but it may be a solution especially if your income may again rise in the future - although the creditors may not accept this and try and secure you debts on the house - what I mean is it may be potentially possible but is not without it's pitfalls.

Lets be honest here, the market in second jobs is pretty non existent. There are few jobs outside of normal working hours on the market and those that there are get snapped up pretty quickly.0 -
Hi Redfraggle,
Just wanted to offer my support. Some of your living expenses are similar to mine and I know how difficult it can be to shave a bit off here and there. There's been some great suggestions so far, have you checked you're getting the right benefits? www.entitledto.co.uk could give you an indication.
Re the school lunches, perhaps you could change what you give them if they usually bin them. Rather than sandwiches, maybe you could make some simple ham and cheese pasties (1 sheet of puff pastry cut into 6, then add a filling). I love taking these cold to work and they keep well. Otherwise, try something else.
When you're shopping around for better deals on the sky/phone/insurance etc look on one of the cashback sites (quidco or similar) and obviously check out MSE for the bargains. There might be a better deal on the boiler cover as well, think I saw that on MSE recently.
You could probably save a bit on groceries with the meal planning, the old style board on here is fantastic for cheap meal ideas.
Sounds like you've made a good start anyway and I wish you lots of luck on tackling this.Me, DH and DD (17 months) clearing our debt for a better future. Hi, try and hang in there Redfraggle, I was getting nowhere with RBS but received a letter over the weekend saying that they accepted my plan so am feeling a bit more settled now.
What did the CAB say?, also can you not reduce sky to the minimum package until you can cancel it in Dec.
I know it's not easy but take care and try and think of yourself xx0 -
