Shaven Monkey, a little tact goes along way, the op is struggling with her finances and needs helpful useful advice.
I realise that tact helps. Aside from converting the ponies to glue I believe my advise was useful if put a little bluntly.
I wish Redfraggle every success in dealing with the debt.

  • I went into my bank yesterday and spoke to someone who was virtually no help whats so ever- not her fault though as she said there was nothing she could do to stop the charges until it is elevated to Head office!!!
Which leaves me with £5 per day charges for the unarranged O/D on top of the arranged O/D charges

Also I have bitten the bullet and got in touch with rescue organisations for help and advice with ponies. I will speak to someone today and hopefully have a plan of action.

Thinking about doing a car boot tomorrow since the weather is nice

    Hello Fraggle

Hope you are doing OK. Can you Ebay anything you have? There is a thread on DFW about it. The financial advice re 0% credit cards, bundling sky packages with phone and broadband, are great - i hope you also got some free impartial advice from CAB.

I am usually found on Old Style. (to put it in context, i am an ethical shopper, and believe in quality over quantity). In addition to all the great advice here - i would check out the cleaning products forum, as well as the mega recipe index. The members of OS are extremely helpful, and a supportive, friendly bunch.

I also recommend joining the grocery or storecupboard challenge - great for reducing monthly spends.

    best of luck

  • Thanks Trinny- have been checking them out and getting lots of good ideas.

I use Ebay already but it has been a bit slow over the last few months so thought I would spring clean today and do a car boot sale. I have to find my road tax money for next month so this will go a long way towards this- wish me luck!!!!

  • Ponies have been fostered and will be rehomed eventually from there. Trying to focus to the savings rather than the heartbreak.

Didn't make it to the car boot due to ponies going but plan to do some major listing on ebay instead.

Well done. It must be hard on you but realistically you had to re-home the ponies becasue otherwise, you would all be looking for a new home.

In the scheme of things financically, sorting the ponies makes the bigger dent on your financial situation.

You can always do the car boot next weekend.

    Hi

You are a couple but you only have one income?

The most effective way to increase your income is for the non-wrking partner to get work as the first £5K is tax free - like OH getting a £8K pay rise.

What can you do re this?

  • Thanks RAS

We do both have an income- that is the joint amount

Well done. That was a very hard decision but you had absolutely no choice in the matter.

Good news about the ponies - try to take comfort in the fact that they will be looked after - you wouldn't have forgiven yourself if your situation had got as such as you couldn't have looked after them well enough.

Good luck with your e-bay listings...keep us posted.
