Bath or Shower Unit?

Cant decide!!! Bathroom is a disgrace so want to give it a major overhaul. But cannot decide between either keeping the bath with a shower over it or get rid of the bath and have a shower unit. Friend of mine has a double shower unit which is huge! Other friend told me to keep the bath as if in the future I want to sell not having a bath would put off families!! What do you all think?

Shower units are fab, but a soak in a nice bath is also fab - if you don't have space for both, then I would keep the bath with the shower screen...there's some nice cheap models around that are circled at the shower end, to give a better shower area, that also doubles as a comfy wide bit when you're having the bath.

Depends on your property: A flat suited to a young professional would probably be fine with a nice shower room, but if its a small family home then most people with kids would want a bath. I'd hate to be without a bath, even though I nearly always use the shower.
  • I have not had a bath for 9 years although there is a bath in my house. I just use the shower room all the time.

I would get rid of the bath!

I much prefer showers & have only taken 2 baths in the 4yrs I have lived in this house. I have a theromostatic shower fitment over the bath & much prefer this arrangement as it gives you the choice of both.

I personally wouldn't buy a house or flat with only a shower unit.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

As an EA I would say don't get ris of the bath. Double shower units may look good but you can't stand a 6 month old in the shower. You will really reduce the number of people that would be interested in buying the property. Put a shower over the bath, it covers all the bases.

We installed a steam shower bath, more room than the average shower, still got a bath with a whirlpool, also jets and 2 showerheads. If you can DIY its pretty easy but you will need somebody to do the electrics. Also has pretty lights adn a radio. check out ebay for prices.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

There are lots of sizes, we chose 1700 x 900 which is about the same length as a normal bath and still plenty wide enough to have a shower, before we had a 600x600 cube, that was a bit of a squeeze.

At first sight they may seem dear but remember that it has all the gubbings included. Just needed to connect up the water and electrics. Just do a search for steam bath on ebay, we also found some in the bath showrooms but they were significantly dearer.
