in Techie Stuff
I am hoping that those who are more techie can help me with a problem.
When we type in a search, the google page comes up with the lists of available sites etc.
If I click on the link, instead of taking me to the site we get another link page or a completely different web page appear. (last night, looking for holiday cottages I got erotic underwear- though not in my size!!!:rotfl:)
Also whilst I am hear- cant get outlook express to work either- it asks for numbers and what modem we use??????
Any help for the techie challenged would be grateful.
Jo

Sounds like you have been infected, what security do you have on your PC?
Suggest you follow this advise:

Thank you for your advice. I have completed the scan but it said no virus. issues etc.
Also now, when using google, I get the internet problem connection page!!
Perhaps I should start again??0 -
I am hoping that by re entering this issue, someone will read this and help.
Still having issues with google- when ever you click on a link from the google page we get another list, serach engine etc come up rather than the page requested.
I have down loaded malaware and run the scan as per penrhyn's advice and this came up clear.
We should have norton anti virus, however as we have recently changed computers I am now wondering if it is not working on this one?? (I am not techie minded so do bear with me)
Any advice would be appreciated0 -
This is not a problem on your own computer, rather the site listed in Google has been hacked to redirect to a totally different site. In many cases the bogus script that the hacker has inserted at that site looks to see if the visitor has been sent from a Google search and only then gets redirected. If you type in the actual site address you will probably get where you want to. But bear in mind the security of that site is suspect, never buy anything from it...
I am sure Google is aware of many of these infected sites and flagging them as such ('This site may infect your computer'), but obviously there are many of them so some get through.
But don't tear your computer to bits, it has nothing to do with that.0 -

.... which might be true if it was just one or two sites, but I get the impression it's happening for everything the OP clicks on.....
I picked up an infection that caused this a while back; my solution was to re-install, but there may be a more elegant solution out there....0 -
Thank you for your help,
yes it does happen every time we use google. I have been pasting the address in the bar from google and we can access sites. The issue is the direct link from google.
Would it be better to reinstall- and if so, how do I get rid of the original and reinstall?
Thanks0
