Hi all,
Has anyone got any recommendations for a good quality no frills printer, really only need it for the odd word doc and my son's homework.
Thanks

Interesting... I too have a Canon (the PIXMA iP4500) and it's easily the highest quality, most reliable, easy-to-use printer I've owned.
Whatever printer you get, check out the price of replacement ink cartridges first - some of them cost almost as much as a new printer! I bought a chip resetter off eBay and get unchipped cartridges for about £2 each - quite a saving on the official ones that cost about £20 (if I remember correctly).0 -
i also have a canon (actually the model linked in the first post) and i think its great yes is a bit bulky but thats because of the size it has to be for the scanner (A4) but it doesnt bother me as it just sits under my computer desk, does nice prints good for photosDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I agree with esuhl, check the price of the ink cartridges before you buy, some of the cheaper printers have very expensive cartridges, I have a very old Epson CX3600 which works perfectly for what I need and if I shop around, as I did this week, I got 7 complete ink changes plus 2 extra black (30 in total) for £14.95 off Ebay (Hornsea Inkjet Supplies). They will last me for years!!0

Hi Ibanez,
If you do not need to print in colour then a laser printer is the way forward - I have a Brother 2030, you can pick one up for £70 and a toner (£24) will print around 3000 pages, far more than an Inkjet printer.
Some people even go as far as to have two printers - a laser for everyday black and white printing and a (more expensive to run) inkjet for the occassional colour printing jobs.
If you do go with an inkjet printer, don't forget to set default setting to 'Economy printing' for the majority of the time and only put it back to 'Normal' when you need the quality to be better.

hi,
i have epsom r300,i can get cheapish ink but you have to buy 6 carts or replace any one thats empty or else it dont work.
i never have any need for colour but this printer still uses the colour whether you print in black only or not, there is no work around for this.
so what i want is a printer that does black only and does it cheap (ink wise that is) i also would like it to photocopy, can you people give me some suggestions please.
thanks.
