If you post the make and model of the laptop we can have a look around for you.

I replaced the hinges on HP laptop ..Bought the parts off ebay and I even found an idiot guide on the web ....I was lucky it was a common fault on that model :)

It can be done ..Here is the advice from someone who has done it.

Very carefully, 1-push the screen right back holing the hinges where tey should be, 2-you have to unclip the black panel (over the power button) using an old credit card so yo dont damage the plastic, as this panel loops over the hinges & can only be removed with the screen right back, BUT remember to be carefull as the cables run through the blak covers & you don't want to snag them!
I've done this before so don't be afraid to pull hard start at the edges & make sure when aclip releases not to carry on pulling (use your thumb on the base of the comuter whilst pulling, dont just rip em off as you'll crack the panel quite easy.
but first I'd see if you can get replacements they're only aluminium angle plates with 2 screws holding them to the base.
    Hope tis helps!

As of yet I can't find a listing of the part number ..

and none listed on ebay for that particular laptop.

I did the same with a Dell Inspiron 8600 when a hinge failed. I bought a used hinge for a few pounds on ebay. It was a straightforward five minute job on my Dell and the procedure posted above sounds very similar.

Kitekat, try searching on ebay for your laptop listed as spares or repair. Often they sell for just a few pounds and you then have more than just a hinge to cannabalise if you ever need other parts. Postage will be higher of course unless you get lucky and find one locally that you can collect.
