Mothercare... Where do I stand?

Hi All,
Bought a travel cot from Mothercare as we are going on holiday on Sunday...
Firstly, when I ordered (last sunday) the price was £49.99... The shop was out of stock so they ordered it for me for delivery.
By the time it was delivered, it was £39.99 - but Mothercare said they weren't going to refund the difference.
Now it's broken, possibly the flimsiest piece of construction i've ever seen. My other half isn't the strongest, and she snapped it dismantling it (to the letter of the instructions).
Am I entitled to a refund? Their online bit says they only do returns if the items unused - and that's under their 'faulty' section too...
Thanks
DD

Yes you are entitled to a refund if the item is genuinely faulty after such a short period of time.
You missed the rest of their policy (right underneath the bit you have quoted":
"This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty or miss described"
Interesting spelling of "misdescribed"....0 -
I'm not entirely sure what constitutes genuinely faulty...
It was fifty pounds, and given it's for babies, I expect a certain degree of durability.
I do not expect my other half, who struggles to open jam jars, to be able to break it to such an extent that a large piece of plastic goes from pink to white and jumps out of the bottom of it0 -
Can't see this being a problem then. I'm sure Mothercare will do the right thing and provide a refund.0

I will give it a go tomorrow... I'm happy for a replacement. I just assumed that given their refusal to do anything about the price decrease (despite it happening before my item was shipped) they'd be equally unreasonable about the refund.0 -
I would give their customer services department a call and explain - I have always found them to be very helpful.
I had a problem with a buggy I ordered for my youngest son - they sent the wrong one and then they could not fulfil the order so offered a choice of the new colours for the same reduced price. I accepted the alternative colour but didnt like it and they collected it from me with no problem and refunded in full.
Good luck.0
