Can anybody recommend an mp3 player that would suit my son. He would like one for his 11th birthday. I don't need one that's to complicated and I would like a reasonable price. Suggestions please..............

MP3 players are pretty much the same, different button layout/design. All are pretty easy to use once you've read the manual.
My gran just got one from Price Drop TV store in Huddersfield, £27.99 for a 1GB.
Not really seen anything cheaper than that.

I have one of these; http://www.electrical-deals.co.uk/ServiceCareSite/product/Portable%20Audio%20and%20MP3_MP3%20Players/KEY015.htm
Has a discreet remote control on the headphone lead, so no need to take the player out of your pocket to hear the song you'd like.
In addition, you don't need an external battery to power it, but it comes with a well designed battery attachment for extended use anywhere.
Can store 120+ songs and play both mp3 and wma.0 -
iPod shuffle 512meg
120 tunes and easy to use. No screen to break, easily fits in your pocket.0 -
Don't even think about getting an iPod Shuffle. Useless. Just a marketing gimmick.
What happens if you haven't got access to a computer and you need to charge the battery?
Want to listen to a particular song? Good luck.

I just brought a 1 gb logik mp3 player from currys .very small and yes you need to chare the battery via the usb port ,but the barrery last for 8 hours0

Eight hours is not much when you go on holidays or are away for the weekend or you are staying with your grandparents who don't have a computer....
I think you get my drift.
The Philips at £27 is a very good deal and with a combination of a AAA battery and it's internal battery, gives up to 13 hours of continuous play. Each new AAA battery contributes another 7 hours.
Better quality of construction than the no-name cheapies. Small and light, at one ounce.
Definitely a good introductory player. Not many, if any players have a remote control attached to the headphones. No more fiddling with a tiny player to get to the songs.

You can buy USB mains chargers for a few pounds to solve the charging problem.

Didn't know they existed; http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7777.htm
A useful product if you're stuck with a useless iPod shuffle.0
