continually turned down

Hi,

I have been turned down for quite a few credit card recently even one with my own bank who I have been with for 23 years (whole life)!!!!! I was also turned down by everyone going when I needed a loan 6months ago. I have applied for my credit file from experian to try and solve the problem.

I cannot understand why I can't get credit? I moved in with my mate in his flat just over 2 years ago and my flatmate pays all the bills and the mortgage etc. We have no home phone and I've only recently (1st august) got round to changing my address on the electoral register. I think I have a decent credit history and have never missed a payment on the only loan i had which i actually paid off early and this was a loan from my own bank!

When we moved into the flat the prevoius owner had a couple of cards that he must have not paid and left to live with his girlfriend so he dissapear of the map. We have stopped receiving mail regarding these credit cards as i was opening the letter and telling them (one was defo egg card) the previous owner had moved but I have no forwarding address.

anyone have any ideas why i cant get credit? is it the flat i am living in?

also I wanted this card for my holiday which is in 5 weeks, I take I wont get this issue sorted before then?

The main problem is the electoral role and lack of credit history..

also the fact that you have not lived at your current address for more than 3 years goes against you,
im suprised you cant get cc from your bank, if you have a loan from then , surly you can get a cc right!
    i would ask your bank!

    1. you were not on the electoral role. i.e. the addresses did not match up with your living address not matching up with your past addresses.
    2. you have no phone, landline.
    3. your bills are paid by another person
    4. the address might be blacklisted (not too sure if they do that but it might be the case as the previous person who ran off left bad debt behind.

Also because you have been living there for 2 years kind of "incognito" and were off the radar it is very hard for credit card people to find a clear register of you.

You did multiple applications. If you do more than 1 a month you are damaging your credit score. So all those credit searches by the credit card companies and lenders was not good for you.

I would find it very worrying if even your bank would not give you a loan or credit, even though they see your monthly income. I would definately armed with your credit report ask your bank why you got refused. If the young uns in the customer service area cannot help, insist in seeing the manager.

Unless the bank gives the card to you there is no chance to get one before that.

Did you send the letters from the credit card people back to them? With a note on the envelope that the person no longer lives at that address?

Once you have your report look at the address associations to see if the addresss where you live has been blacklisted.

There is no such thing as Blacklisting, it's a myth.
