Parking ticket advice please

Today My wife drove me into town to go to the bank. We parked in what we thought was ok and saw a parking attendant walking round so we checked and were told that as long as we had the blue badge displayed we could park in any "council run parking bays without the one hour time limit applying. this was 12.00 noon, at 1.45 we returned to find that we had been given a penalty charge notice. what can we do to fight this?

We had parked my wife whom is the driver had displayed the blue badge and the time that we had arrived. We were unsure if we could park for long there so we asked a parking attendant who was working close by and we were told that we could park there and the restrictions do not apply to us as long as the blue badge was displayed correctly. We were further told that we could park in any council run parking area without restriction and the attendant was pointing out the various other places we could park.
As we took his expert advice as he knows the rules we feel that we should not have to pay the ticket that was placed on our car one hour later.
Only through Christ can we find freedom

Copy the ticket, both sides and remove personals, host on tiny pic and put the url on here. Photo's of any signs would help as well as anything else that you think may help.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

parking in a residents’ or shared use parking place without clearly displaying either a permit or voucher or pay and display ticket issued for that place. Contravention code 12

is what it says on the ticket.

I would think that if you ask the guys who inforse the rules and are told you are parked legally and are ok it would not be reasonable to then be ticketed.

Are the tickets legal or civil and if they turn down the appeal that was sent (copy of letter below) can we fight it in the courts?

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally challenge the above Penalty Charge Notice.

Today the 6th of April my vehicle was issued with a Penalty Charge Notice for the reason of parking in a residents’ or shared use parking place without clearly displaying either a permit or voucher or pay and display ticket issued for that place. Contravention code 12

In accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1991, my challenge is on the basis that the contravention did not occur.

For this reason I look forward to receiving notification that the Penalty Charge Notice has been cancelled within 28 days. I also reserve the right to fight this notice in the courts of the land and may send a copy of this letter to the local press and my MP.

I would remove this. Firstly you would only be able to appeal to the Parking Adjudicator not a court. Secondly you are effectively asking the Council to use their discretion and this doesn't really set a concillitary tone.
