Kitchen tiling & plastering question

Hi

I'm always one of those people that never can quite work out who the best person for the job is and wondered if you guys had any advice?

In our kitchen we have some tiled areas that really would look much better without tiles and just painted instead. There are three such areas, two are under the kitchen units between the units and the worktops, and the third area is the wall behind the hob which is currently all tiled to the height of the extractor but only really needs to be partially tiled.

My question is, if you have previously had tiles in an area, can that area be re-plastered again ready for painting without it being major work? The two areas between the units and worktops I imagine would be easier to achieve this look but the wall behind the hob would need the former tiled part merging with the rest of the wall above. I'm not an expert on plastering and how it works so any advice on if any of this is achievable would be appreciated. Also if it can be done, can the whole job including the removal of the tiles be done by a plasterer?

Thanks
TinTin

Why can you not just remove the tiles yourself. You might well find that the wall cleans up well enough not to need replastering. Probably all you would need would be a couple of flexible filling knives.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
