P45 query

Wonder if anyone can please help with a little advice. The company my husband has worked for for 16+ years has just been bought out / taken over by another one. He has just received a P45 in the post from the old company. He assumed contunual employment etc would just carry on, it looks like he starts work from today with the new firm. Am I right in thinking that should the worst happen such as redundancy in the future he wouldn`t get anything because this P45 has been issued to him and all his work collegues.
Hope this doesn`t sound too confusing but it was a shock to receive it as he wasn`t expecting it.
Thanks

This happened to me and I worried about the same thing. Because the company was now part of another company, with their own tax reference etc, all employees had to get a P45 to close down the payroll in the eyes of the HMRC. I have since then been made redundant but my service was included from the original company and I got full entitlement. I just made sure all terms and conditions were transferred across from the original company to set my mind at ease. All the best.0

Thanks contr5olfreak32 for the advice, really sorry to hear you have been made redundant but glad you got full entitlement.
I`ll make sure he checks with the union that all terms and conditions are transferred over from the other company.
Hope you have got another job or get one very soon.0 -
I agree with controlfreak. As long as his new contract states that his continuous employment began on "whatever" date then this will ensure he gets full rights. You do have rights......but you still need common sense.0

Thanks getting him to check on Monday.0
