I've just recieved a British gas final bill of £180.
I cannot afford this, will they let me spread it over 6-12 months?

Not if you want to leave. They may if you stay with them

I don't - I've brought BG over to my new house.

i'm leaving them at the mo. they don't let you leave until you are up to date with payments according to t&cs. they wrongly tried to charge me a leaving fee but were actually good at sorting it out. they are keen to keep any customers...

i'd call customer services and talk it through with them. say you want to switch (if you still do) and will they accept spread payment. they probably won't, so if you can put up with staying with them a few months and they let you pay in instalments don't let them put you on a tariff that ties you in longer than you want.

    Hi PaulE,

If you are continuing with supply at the new house then you can transfer the balance from your old account to your new account. Just give customer service a call on 0800 048 0202

    Regard

Nope, I do want to stay I meant!
I meant I don't want to leave haha.

I wish to stay with BG, and I've already moved them to my new property.

As smidgey says, give them a call. It's likely they'll put your DD up at the new property by £8-£10 per month to cover the £100 final bill that you need to pay off over the year :)
