Holiday for a Single Parent

Hi all
I am looking for some ideas and suggestions for a summer holiday.
I am a single parent of two kids, daughter is 5 and son will be 3 by the time summer school holidays come around. Our schools close end of June and return mid August.
I am looking for somewhere within the UK and probably a maximum of 3-4 hours drive away from Glasgow that is family friendly and not too expensive. I don't mind if it is B&B, travelodge, or caravan park etc.

Actually I have just put my 3 to bed and I'm sitting here googling "lone parent holidays" there seem to be quite a few. I'm dying to do disney paris and tempted to drive and tunnel it, but I know it's going to be heaving late August time.Thriftkitten

As a kid we always used to go to Heaven a lot, i'm sure theres one not to far away from you.
A lot of entertainment on site as well as swimming pools and other activities - obviously try and find one with some stuff to do around it?0 -
I did the Cala Gran Haven near Blackpool last year. I used it as a base and went to the zoo one day, the farm across the road from it the next, the tower another day, the beach another day, etc, etc.
I have heard a few horror stories about the Haven in Ayr so not really keen to try it.
Disney does seem good, but I don't really want to go down the route of getting passports for the kids just now.0
