Scared to switch

I have a current account with Barclays. I know that it isn't great for interest but I just can't trust any other bank to give me the same sort of offers that Barclays do.
You must think I am crazy but I have a funny attitude towards banks. I think smaller banks should give me exactly what I want. This is where they have failed me.
When I was 20 now (25) I bought my house and I went to all the best mortgage providers first to see what they had to say. Sure the rates were nice but I wanted ££££££ and thats where the big boys show themselves Barclays offered me £80,000 of which I borrowd £77,000.
How can I walk away from them when they are there for me when I need them?
Who would be a good alternative?
