    Does your council have a list of approved contractors? I went with one that was on our council's list and it cost us £450 for the dropped kerb - my cousin was quoted £800 from another on the list.

    We got a quote from the council of almost £1100 to drop our kerb .. so a freind of a freind did it for us and cost us just under £200. ;)

    Someone reported us to the council, who came out, but said there was nothing they could do as it had been done and just approved it .. costing nothing :)

    I'd see who could do it for you and drop grid at the same time if poss.
