Travel insurance-cancellation cover

Hi, I have looked but cant find another thread on this one.

Does anyone know of any company who will cover cancellation in the following scenario:

We have a long-booked holiday which now turns out to have a return date of 12 days before our daughter is expected to have her first child (we had no idea about this when we arranged our flights!)

We are looking for cover for cancellation should baby come early, there is no way my wife would consider being abroad at that point!

I expect a company who will cover this will be a bit more expensive and should labour start while we are away we will obviously have to sort early flights home ourselves at our own cost but I am more concerened about cancellation not curtailment.

Any ideas, anyone, please?

Thanks

I could be wrong but I am not sure you will be able to get cover for this at all.

Unless your daugther developed life threatening complications I doubt any company would cover for this especially given the closeness of the dates. Also as you haven't taken out the insurance yet but have booked the holiday this will make it even harder to get cover.

Might be cheaper to try and change the dates for your holiday.

You are effectively asking for a company to accept responsibility for a known event, in other words will someone take £30 from you so you can claim back £1000? I wish insurance was like that, but they would go bust and then be unable to insure anyone else....

If the baby hasn't arrived and you go on this holiday, do you think you and your wife will actually enjoy the holiday?

First babies are often late, so the risk is not all that great. Anyway, you will have to contact insurers and see what cover is available.

Red = Where are you going?
The airlins won't normally carry a pregnant woman that late in a pregnancy anyway. If flying you might want to check now.

Also you probably wont get cover as it is "after the fact" - you should have got insurance the moment you booked your holiday and then (dependent on policy & IC) she would have been covered.

Here in US you will not be allowed to fly in thr Third Trimester (last 12 weeks) so she is near to not being able to fly in the USA (and I assume other countries are similar timing).

I think if you read the original post, the OP (and his wife) aren't pregnant - their daughter is.
The OP is flying, the daughter isn't.
The OP's wife is worried about her daughter having the baby early whilst they (the expectant grandparents) are still on holiday.

Ah, you see I read that they were all travelling together on a family holiday.
