When I was randomly searching on line, I found something called 'cooling off period' after exchange of contract. Though most of the sites are from Australia. I was wondering if this practice is available within the UK?

Depends on the subject/context. Different industries/methods have different rules.
i.e. Distance selling regulations

If you mean for exchange of house-buying contract, not heard of that here.0 -
If you are talking about exchange of contractson a house sale then no, there isn't - not without heavy financial penalty. Exchange ofcontracts is a clear agreement to purchase/sell.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

yes, I was talking about in the context of exchange of contract on a flat sale. cheers0 -
In UK mainly applies to distance selling and (I think) it will soon apply to sales made at the consumer's residence (i.e. door to door types).0
