As a suggestion r.e the seats Martin, if you look on theatremonkey.com click on "For best seat info" and click on the theatre and here people will have written where they sat and the view etc.

As for the main act being missing, unsure where you stand with that, but removing you from the show and making you miss 2 songs, is a bit much

I`m sorry to hear of your experience with the Savoy Theatre i attended the Heart 106.2 charity event "Have a Heart" at Legally blonde & had a fantastic night out, Everybody who attended got a promotional cd, Nail file, Green & blacks mini chocolate, A glossy poster of sheridan smith all in a really nice canvas "Legally Blonde" Printed bag, The show was absolutely fabulous & Sheridan Smith is the star of the show he plays Elle woods so perfectly & doesnt stop smiling from start to finish she is defintly a leading lady in the west end.

I get from what you wrote Martin about your seats that perhaps you dont have much Theatre experience ?

"We had mid-price tickets, so were surprised to be pinioned at the very back row of the dress circle.
If the restricted view wasn’t bad enough, while most seats up there are pretty tight with little leg room – here the seat back is butted up against a wall"

This is Exactly what you can expect for mid-priced tickets, I have been a theatre goer for quite a few years now & i defintly recommend purchasing your tickets in the Stalls area as i consider these to be the "Best seats in the house" If i cant get the stalls i wait until i can because i have had your experience & its not nice at all, I know they can be very expensive in that area but if you search around you will find substantial discounts around.

Another thing that does really bother me about the Theatre & this is with every show currently on is that they do not offer a childrens price, Surely the children of today are the future of this industry & there is nothing to encourage parents to include their children in this past time due to how expensive it is ?
I`am fortunate enough to be able to take my daughter to the theatre & she has been to practically every show in the west end i have been taking her since the age of 6 & she is now 11, I think that it is nice to include children but have always felt that more should be done by the theatres to encourage our children in.

Keep us posted with what happens :money:

Most of these posts don't actually read as if they're written by Martin, if you compare his blog style to them. Has the great one been hacked, or simply delegated?

Moneysaving Miser buys cheap seats and Moans !

.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Why is there still being made an issue that it wasn't publicised Sheridan wasn't on? She WAS there on Saturday! Seeing a picture in the paper from her hols that was taken days before doesn't mean she wasn't there, she returned to the show the day before.

I was at the Savoy last night, a few ladies were sat up in the gods somewhere, one of them suffered from vertigo, they spoke to the theatre staff a good 15 minutes before the show started and were moved to some available seats in the stalls no problems.

Every year in The West End there is an event called Kidsweek where a child can go free with an adult ticket purchase ( does not have to be top price either..though these are allocated first to encourage young people to actually enjoy theatre !)
The event is on this year from August 13th - 27th - we go every year !

I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

Yes i have heard of this but what i`am getting at is that the theatres should be doing more to encourage children all year round not just two weeks out of every year, These places are limited on a first come first served basis & if you look how many children there are in london not all parents who would be interested in this would get a place, How is Two weeks long enough ? There is no reason why the theatres cant offer more all year around other than sheer greed !!!

Really i am surprised that the West End Theatres are not offering concessions for Children/Seniors & agree totally with what you say Loopylou where you mention 'sheer greed'.

I would of thought that these days under EU laws etc they are getting away with this as surely they can reduce Child ticket prices as the tax rules alone would allow this. Even theme parks, cinemas, public transport, football grounds, swimming pools & just about anything you can mention usually have consessions for children or the over 65.

The only thing i can think is that the people running the Theatres are extremely greedy & are charging you for what they believe that seat in the audience is worth whether you are an adult or child, or simply they dont want kids in the theatres ??

This is something Boris Johnson should be addressing, & while he's at it he can also give every Londoner a free ticket to the 2012 Olympics as weve paid for it after all (another joke).

Why should they discount the seat when they can fill it with an adult at full price? They are a business after all.
