Choosing a HD Camcorder?

Hi all

Looking at getting a small HD camcorder.

Now I have to admit, I am abit confused by them, I am lookig to spend around £200ish, but I dont fully understand how to tell a good from a bad one

I thought it was based on Megapixels, but since hear the lense etc makes a difference, and some will less MP, are more expensive than those with more MP

So, this is one I was looking at, but are there any as good/better for less price?

This one is around £215

thanks

It's a bit of a minefield buying a HD camcorder because there are so many variables. You usually cannot get a proper HD camcorder for under £300. Some products do say HD camcorder but they do not record HD only upscale the image to HD. Having said that they are the smaller models!

If you are looking for a full HD camcorder you could start here..

A 1080 x 1920 image is a tad only over 2 megapixels. Why not take some shots in store, see which you prefer to hold and use and which picture quality you like?

    Thaks guys

Ok, well still abit mythed lol
My mum went and bought one of these:
    http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/camcorders/0,39029967,49302480,00.htm

And actually we thought it wasnt bad, for its price

I now want a camcorder, for the same purpose, photos and videos, so really I want a good camera and a good camcorder in one, as it saves me buying both seperately.

I am not too fussed on video quality as long as its good, my mums one is actually pretty good for videos, so dont see to much issue there

now to find the right one

If you'r enot bothered about the video quality you'd be better buying a decent Digital Camera that also shoots video as most camcorders don't tend to take good photos.

Most cameras, however, take reasonable video and are much better for photos.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

    thanks for the input

well, I guess thinking about it properly

I would need the video quality to be better than the photo quality, I would use it for photos too, but mainly for videos, hmm decisions :)
