Laptop Crashing

Not sure what's causing this to happen but every now and then when on the web, for no reason and without warning it crashes and the laptop restarts.
I have Avast virus software,Winpatrol,Malware and Advanced Systemcare on my system. The laptop is under a year old and I know I could take it back to be looked at but would prefer to try this first before handing it over to the shop.

Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks.

    Hi,

It could be overheating with dust clogged up in the fan and heat outlet. Take a look and see if it looks dusty on the fan or outlet. You may have to remove a panel at the bottom of the laptop. If it is dusty then try to clean it out by blowing or sucking it out of the laptop (and not into it as can cause more damage!).

Otherwise it could be corrupted windows, faulty hardware (ram, harddisk, cpu) or a dodgy driver installed.

Without looking at the laptop and running diagnostics its difficult to determine.

First try to determine your processor operating temperature by downloading SpeedFan, install it and run it. Let me know what the termperature of you get after it is installed.

Next, do a full virus and spyware scan. Avast is pretty good so enter safe mode with networking, update Avast and run a full scan.

Once completed download Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and update it and perform a full scan.

You can search for these on google or find links to them at my site:

It may also be worth checking the disk for errors. Insert your windows cd and reboot and make sure you reboot from the CD (press F12 to select boot device on start up), load recovery console and type:

    chkdsk /r

This may take a while but will find and fix any hard disk errors you may have (this is very common in laptops due to their portable nature as lots of people move their laptops with it turned on and this can damage the hard disk because hard disk head can physically smash against the platters and physically damage the hard disk).

Hope this is of help. Let me know if you require assistance.

    Kind regards

    Paul
