GRRR can have a rant non bankruptcy related!!!

I posted on a thread in the benefits forum, as i thought i was being helpful, as we find ourselves in a similar situation to the op.

My post was attacked by some, stating basically that those who do not find work quickly after losing their jobs are workshy and not doing enough to find jobs, and that i was stupid for becoming pregnant (unplanned)!!!! I tried to argue the point but got me nowhere.

I am dismayed that people who have never been in the situation can make such comments.

I dont think im going to be leaving the comfort of this forum again for while!!!

Sorry if possibly some of you may have the same views, but im totally gobsmacked!!!

Honey...take a deep breath & go get a nice cuppa & some choccy biscuits if you have any. Its really not worth the effort of thinking about what others think....its what you think & know that really matters.

I read other boards all the time & I know how threads tend to end up so I never post....I was torn to shreds once on DT & it was a very unsettling experience. There are certain posters that if , when I see they have posted on a thread, make me stop reading immediately.

You try & help & support but on some other boards that is seen as weakness & attacked.

There is always the abuse button if it gets abusive...plus if they send you a PM never answer it.

Hope you`ve got that kettle on Hun.

There are some folks so set in their opinions that they just cannot/will not even attempt to see others` viewpoints....sadly they also must have missed the `tactfullness` lesson at school too.

LOL....as you are brewing mines a coffee please...no sugar :D:D

I should`nt be here really...got a list of to-do stuff as long as my arm but just can`t get motivated today:o:o

    Have a good day.

    Hi Mummy of Two

First of all it was nice that you tried to help someone, secondly sadly there are people out there who hide behind their computers and become bullies.

I think you have to try not to take these things too personally and just walk away as you can, but I know you do get drawn in as you feel you have right to defend your views.

As for finding jobs, I would be devestated if I lost my job and I am sure going back to job hunting in my 40's after being in the same job for over 14 years would be terrible, and it is not easy to just walk into a new job but that does no make you workshy.

Just ignore these horrid people with nothing better to do than cause trouble.

    O did someone say coffee.........??

    Don't go there again.

I've had some rip outs and some helpful answers. There were one or two questions I have had to ask the board and venture in quietly and straight back out again! Don't get involved in any rude comments and ignore them.

People are allowed to have opinions and hidden behind a keyboard/monitor then it's easier for them to "big themselves up" and say what they think. Sometimes I think that some of these people wish they were bullies but don't have the nerve for it! An anonymous forum is ideal to live out those fantasies.

Hello mummytotwo, I can only echo what Angie, Loo and Sky has said.
Some of those boards are frightening, so glad we have the posters here that we do!

Now no worrying, were all here.......Coffee's for all x

Seconding others, some people seem to get a form of 'web rage' when they're online 'persona' are let lose and they really aren't worth worrying about.

The only persons opinion you should care about is yours :D

aw hun sorry to hear that...it's awful that you tried to help someone and got basically attacked! there are some very vicious people out there whose sole reason for posting is to abuse others.

i read other boards but rarely contribute- safe in here!

hope you're feeling a bit better now xxx
