why do i get the feeling my possible living arrangements next year might cause problems? There's 4 of us that share, 2 of them are planning on moving away and me and the other (a guy) are the only two left needing somewhere to live. I can only get the shared room rate of LHA and my other friends who i could live with aren't moving from where they are now, so i told my housemate i'd share with him, as 2 of my friends are moving house so there 2 bed house is up for grabs. Why do i get the feeling i'll be getting a visit?

so you want to live together but make the benefits system pay for two homes then?
That should be fine, whoever could see a problem with that then:eek:0 -

Where you stay in this scenario is irrelevant if you are living together. If you fail to declare that you are sharing accomofation, even if it is two places, then you will be commiting fraud.me and my girlfriend have both have are own homes , both on housing benifit , and would both like to share both homes through the week ,what is the law about staying at each others place and how many nights can we stay at each place.0 -

I'm not too worried it'll be pretty obvious we're nothing more than housemates

Started a new thread for you

If you live together during the week why not just move into one property or the other? Currently you are occupying 2 properties where one would suffice and you could give up one property which would mean the huge waiting lists for housing could have one less person on it?
There is no rule as to how many nights you can spend in the other persons property, more if you are deemed to be living together as man and wife.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
The benefit system doesnt keep people apart. It costs less to run one home than it does to run two - the benefit system reflects that.
Most couples who 'seperate' and claim benefit as single people are still living together. Its one of the easiest types of fraud to commit.0
