Thanks for all the recipies.
I've printed them all out and this is something I've been trying to organise for a while.
OH will wonder what's happened!0 -
Menu and shopping lists look great and really varied.:T I love home-made houmous but usually have it as a snack or lunch (maybe I'm just greedy).0

i also think its a great thread but agree with Millie-
if i served houmous and pittas ( even with salad ) as a main dinner i would be looked at as if id gone mad : )
have to say that other menu lists may not have been as full of fruit and veg or even as much variety but they suited me better
good job we arent all the same eh? ( says she guzzling down another helping of peach cobbler )0 -
Thanks SeeWeed for your lovely recipes. I'm actually a vegetarian but most of yours can be adapted with either veggie sausages, quorn products or TVP.
For 5 years I ran ski chalets and had to cook 4 courses for 8 - 10 people, gourmet style, with a very tight budget. Thankfully we got wholesale on meat and veg - but had to buy everything else from the local Spar equivalent. It is surprisingly easy to keep to a budget if you actually write it all down and pre-plan. It does take time and being organised, but once you get into a routine it's really easy, and for people attempting to save money/pay off debts (like myself now) they are a godsend.
Thanks for all your advice and suggestions. They're really inspiring :T0 -
Do you do this sort of thing with house work too?????
If so, any tips/rotas there.... but I'm sure you have enough requests for recipies to deal with this tangent!0 -
Thanks for all the great recipes - cant wait to try them out!0

Thanks SeeWeed - what a great idea.
You have inspired me by reading this. I have printed it all off and am going to work through it later.
This is just what I needed to get me started on reducing my food budget. :j

I have a tip for housework! Try https://www.flylady.net
It's a bit twee in places, but it basically helps you to build a routine with basic things that you should do each day and each week.
Start with "babysteps", then build a weekly routine, then do the daily missions and finally add the new monthly tasks. It will take a few months to build up to a full household routine, but by that time your home is decluttered and has been thoroughly cleaned, so the routines don't take as long as they would do if you tried to do it all at once.January Grocery Challenge: £200 Spend £158.99

I've had a very successful month with my meal planning, thanks to your menu's seeweed. Thank you so much. I came in under budget even though I bought extra ingredients for my jam and mincemeat. Yay!
Please can you post a recipe for the spicy bacon pasta. I've written in my diary that we'll have it tonight, but dont' know what it is lol
Thanks again, we've never eaten so well and this thread alone has sparked some interest in cooking for me - I'm really getting in to cooking from scratch. I've even started to save recipes in a special folder. My husband thinks the real me has been acosted by aliens and been I've been replaced with a newer model0
