    Hi folks.

Good to see you Saucy. Hopefully now they are starting to get to the root of the problems, they can start to treat it.

Mambury, that sucks hun. Heroin is evil evil stuff.

Well I've had a weird day. I'm obviously still stressing about this new venue as this is the third week of term and I had a night of start of term nightmares - 5 on the bounce! Normally I have one a day or two before term starts so this is the latest and the worst I've had them. I'm hoping that they go away by next week as really things are going ok. We have had several new customers and they are raving about the classes, and better still they are sharing on FB that they like them. Numbers are good and getting better and I've had a chat with the hall and the thing the moaning minny was moaning about has been resolved, so she may stop moaning till the next thing she finds! One thing that I was worrying about was getting the van in the entrance as it's a tight fit with people parked all round the entrance, so that is stressy, but it is getting better week by week.

Going to do a bit of day 2 prompt tonight and then have a nice hot bath for my day 3 prompt.

Benn looking into Priceminster and just to add to the offer Mambury posted, you get £1 cashback for the first item you list for sale, £2 cashback for the first item you buy and 10% cashback thereafter.

Only problem I am having is the fact that I can't find info on how much they charge. Will have a proper look later.

    Commission

On PriceMinister, you can list an unlimited number of items for free.
PriceMinister will only take a commission when an item is sold.

Below is a description of how the PriceMinister commission is worked out:

    CALCULATING THE COMMISSION:

Placing an item online : Unlimited and Free of charge.

The commission is made up of a variable amount calculated according the following price brackets:

    - 1% (inc. tax) of all prices above £375.00
    - 5% (inc. tax) of all prices between £225.00 and £375.00
    - 10% (inc. tax) of all prices between £75.00 and £225.00
    - 15% (inc. tax) of all prices below £75.00

And a fixed amount which depends on the price of sale:

    - £0.30 (inc. tax) if the price is below £4.00
    - £0.70 (inc. tax) if the price is between £4.00 and £8.00
    - £1.00 (inc. tax) if the price is between £8.00 and £75.00
    - £1.40 (inc. tax) if the price is above £75.00

In some cases, and in order to compensate sellers for additional delivery costs, PriceMinister also refunds the seller with a fixed amount corresponding to the type of item sold. This amount is shown when putting online the item.

In order to ensure that all sales are profitable, the price of an item cannot be less than 90p.

Please note that even if you decide not to sell your item in the end, you will not be charged for it as posting a listing online is free.

Looks like Price Minister work like amazon, they deal with payment etc however, might be worth thinking about they only pay the seller once the transaction is rated to prove the buyer has the item.

    Hi fellow dribblers *wave*

I've finally caught up on all the dribble, but haven't been taking notes as I've gone along, so I couldn't possibly reply to everything I wanted to..... so hugs for all those in need and hugs for those who just want hugged!

I'm glad to have taken time out, wasn't my intention to have worried anyone, so apologies to those of you who messaged me in concern mode! I've done a lot of thinking, wondering why I was so off balance and, to be honest, down in the dumps. I'm made some decisions, not least of which is that I'm not going down the road of crocheting for profit.

It started as a hobby, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven't touched a hook or yarn for a week now, just couldn't be bothered, it didn't interest me at all. On reflection, I think this is because it started as something I wanted to do because I felt like it, a happy and relaxing hobby that I could pick up and put down at leisure. I could choose what I wanted to make and have a dozen unfinished projects on the go at one time! I decided to do it as a business project precisely because I enjoyed it, but in doing so, made it a labour, a necessity, instead of letting the joy come when the moment chose.

Working full time, running around after 2 teenagers, keeping house, trying to keep in touch with OH and cope with the time difference, and then find time to hook and once in a while just sit and read a book.... it just wasn't happening and instead of enjoying it, I was feeling restricted and stressed. Once I'd made the conscious decision not to go ahead with it, a weight lifted, and while browsing online I found a crochet project that spoke to me and I got all excited and wanted to find a suitable hook to get started.... then I realised it was 11.45pm and I should really be going to bed! Having not touched crochet for a week and had no inspiration, this was when I realised I'd made the right choice.

I would like to say that my existing dribbler orders will soon be fulfilled, and that these are not a pressure to me, I'm enjoying them.... they may be taking longer than I anticipated, but they'll come, I promise! If anyone else on the thread would like anything, for the sheer fun of it, I'd be delighted to do anything you ask! I've pretty much decided that if I do choose to make something, I can then think about throwing it on eBay or similar, ad hoc as I go along.

Anyhoo, sorry, that turned in to a bit of a long winded affair, but I'm happier now for having made what I think is the right decision. I've just become aware of a health worry going on with my DS right now too, and while there is nothing I can do but wait for the results of tests he's going for on Friday, I've cleared other things from my mind in the meantime.

I hope, despite the fact that I won't exactly be making my fortune here now, you'll let me stick around and encourage all the dribblers anyway!

Hugs, Toots. Sounds like you have made the right decision for you.

I went through something similar a few years back. I make soap from scratch (not just melting, colouring and perfuming something someone else has made) and started getting orders from friends and family. Then I started working out whether it could be a commercial venture and started making stock. Quite apart from the licensing issue and having to get it lab tested and what not, when I worked out margins and how much I'd have to make and sell to make it worth doing it was going to mean racking to dry the soap in every available inch of space and a couple of pots of soap made every night (I make about 5.5 lbs in a batch) and even just making stock was making me fed up of it, so I decided against it. The stock I had made kept us in soap for several years LOL and it was only a few months ago that I dug out my soap pot and made a couple of batches for pleasure again.

Not quite the same, but a pretty similar thought process. Even a pleasure, when taken to extreme, can become a chore.

And if you stick around then maybe someone will come up with an even better idea for you. :)
