  • Jo - thanks. Trouble with opening doors and windows is that flies don't stay outside :( She will get used to them again I am sure, and I don't really have a choice over comforting her, as soon as she sees one, she is practically climbing up me for a cuddle. You are right about them feeling safe like that.

When we moved to the seafront, we used to take her once or twice a week to the beach, but if she fell down (she was only 18mths), she would hold her hands up in the air and scream, so she didn't have to touch it, and she was the same if we took her shoes off. Once the weather got warmer, we had my niece come to stay with us, and, although she was very wary at first, becasue Paris did it, she thought she woud try it. We had a few tears atr first, but by the end of the day, she was running around with no shoes on! Still haven't got her to put her feet in the sea though, which suprised me as she is a water baby if ever there was one. Should say though, that the snow she still won't touch unless she has gloves on, and even then, if it stuck to her gloves, it was a screaming fit, but we didn't have the magic of Paris. She really does idolise her cousin!

Life has to go on, so I am hoping that continuing as normal, comforting her when she cries and carrying her when she is scared, she will eventually get used to the sight of them and she will be fine.

Babymoo - One day at a time, its all you can do at the moment. xx

know what you mean about windows and doors - we have had a few screams at indoors flies too. she keeps venturing out into the garden when DS does but coming back in a few minutes later.
DH has a barbeque planned this evenin and she said she wants to do that so we will see. I'll probably be inside any way as feeling to bleurgh so she will be able to go between the 2 as she wants.
when she went in the lake it was because she liked the look of another small child who was also doing it.
carrying on as normal but without forcing the issue seems like good low-key way to go with it.
we've had the ant on slide issue too and cobwebs etc.
    good luck.

my kids in the past have got over fears of spiders and flies in the house by me saying hey they must really like our family to come and visit we've got our very own spider friends now. DS particularly likes this idea and has adopted many spiders/ants and flies over the last few years. but DD is too acutely scared right now for this to work.

was thinking about labrynthitis and hoping it isn't. will go anyway cos my other hunch is sinuses. my frontal ones feel really tight and now maxillary one on right is starting to feel similar and skin over it is really sensitive. have had it before with no loose symptoms like post nasal drip or snottiness etc. just had really solid gunk in them I think.
anyway have taken over this thread enough with my spinny head.
glad bootsale went well. must be getting exciting. hope you get paperwork all sorted on monday. then you can relax.
