Evening all!
Babymooooooooo - so glad to see you back hun, I know you're not around right now, but I had to post that anyway lol. Hope you're feeling much better very soon x
Been doing my taxi run tonight, I ferry my DS to his athletics club and pick him up once they're all done. I've come back tonight and need to have a little rant lol, so here we go, it's my turn tonight!!!
DS started with this club 7 years ago and has been commited and consistent bar a couple of months some years back when he lost heart a bit. He goes faithfully twice a week, every week, come rain or shine and pays his dues to the club, including annual membership. He's been involved in the club championships, has competed at national level for the club etc. Every time he does anything in athletics, kudos goes to the club, whether it be points for the overall championships or whatever. Whenever he gets a personal best time/distance, it's a bonus for the club. I could go on, but you get the general impression by now I'm sure. DS and a friend have been training together for the last year, with only occasional coaching as the coach is more committed to guiding the younger kids. Their previous coach, who was excellent, was wrongly accused (charges thrown out) of acting inappropriately with one of the students, and left the club - mud sticks. Anyhow, he goes tonight, everything's rosy, he's approached as soon as he gets there by one of the club bosses to say that he'd been hoping DS could compete this weekend, but that he'd just found out all the spots were taken, would he be happy to do any more competitions coming up. He stood there and told DS that he continues to impress the club and that he's an invaluable talent, they want to take him further blah blah. Lovely, DS is delighted. At the END of the training, DS is approached by higher-up club boss. Blethers on about how talented DS is etc etc etc. THEN says to him, unfortunately don't think we can continue to offer you membership of the club, because we don't really have anyone here now to properly coach you. But if we found you a spot with another club, would you continue to compete for US please. Unfortunately DS response to that was not as polite as I would have wished it to be, but the guy didn't take offence, just explained again that they don't want to lose his talent. DS's mate will be in the same boat. So it's been left for him to decide what he wants to do. He can either be coached by one of the existing coaches (which I've nixed, don't like him at all, he's nothing but a bully with the young ones) or continue to train on their own without any formal coaching. Which, as the club bosses did point out, won't bring out their potential.
Now I know it's not their fault they don't have an appropriate coach. But I'm totally dismayed at the way it's been dealt with, and either they don't communicate with each other, or the first boss thought he'd get DS's commitment to compete before second boss dumped the bad news on him. Just feels so completely underhand. Grrrr. Off to have a look online and see what I can find, think he may just have to change clubs completely, if there's anything available.
End rant lol. So sorry, that turned into a long post, and it was really just to get it off my chest. You don't upset a mother like that

Can see why they did it but like you say they could have bluddy handled it better! Poor lad, he's obviously talented so they don't want to lose him scoring points for them but a bit cheeky ( understatement ) to ask him to still compete for them!! You'll find the right thing to do hun I'm sure but big hugs in the meantime :-)
ok def off to bed, have tucked seeds in and said goodnight :-)0 -

Does anyone know where i can find a cheap supplier of Wicker baskets?
My OH is starting her website of selling gift baskets online and on ebay and struggling to find a reliable cheap supplier?
Dunelm Mill? They often have them - only trouble is they are sometimes (from memory) sets of 3 different sizes. Not sure how the price would compare with an online supplier though, if you could find one.0 -
Whoo hoo! I'm being really spoddy and *watching* the planes come into Heathrow on the radar sites. After what seems like forever, it's so nice to see planes in UK airspace, and I never thought I'd be glad to see aeroplanes again.0
