Well I've been skimming the manifestos, initially prompted by wondering why UKIP came so high up my list on that Facebook page (not even going to look at the BNP manifesto). I wanted to see why a party I'd never have considered voting for was ranked so highly. I have to say that I can see the issues that the page used to put UKIP so high up, but a lot of the questions seem to be about things that UKIP expressly mention in their manifesto, so it does seem somewhat skewed imho. e.g. I said yes to a referendum about Europe. This doesn't mean I'd vote to withdraw, just that I'd like to have the debate and be more educated about it and then make my own mind up, but because UKIP say they would have a referendum because they believe most people want to withdraw, I've got a tick in the UKIP box. Do you see what I mean?

I had a to-do with a family member today as he kept banging on about why no-one should vote Tory because David Cameron went to Eton. I was privately educated (there, I've said it, LOL) and I have spent my life appending "but it was on a scholarship" to that as people immediately judge who you are and what sort of family you come from. My folks weren't well off (I went to uni on a full grant in the days when grants were means tested) but I got a full scholarship as I was bright. I don't know DC's background, but I hated the way the leaders kept stressing last night that their kids were at state schools, like there was something shameful about going private. I'm not saying you should vote Tory (far from it), but just that which school he went to shouldn't be a factor, any more than you should vote for someone because he has become an MP having been to a failing school, however admirable his achievement. I have spent my whole darn life apologising for the school my parents sent me to and why the heck should I have to? Sorry, will step back off soap box now!

2cats - totally agree with the post about what school you went too. it all depends on how bright or rather educated you become yourself. i went to the roughest school in cardiff south wales and i came out ok. i didnt go to uni but that was my choice. i have 9 A*'s and 4 A GCSE's along with 2 A Levels (I.T and Law) which i studied in the evening to go along with my Advanced Level GNVQ in Hospitality, Catering and Management. I believe i did well to come as far as i did as other people within my year dribbled it up the wall.

I think that votechecker's quite worrying - it's ok in the hands of everyone on here as we're all intelligent with common sense too - BUT - in the wrong hands, i fear it could be quite dangerous. It's worrying to think it may actually be influencing the votes of people (ob not peep on here!) x

just looked at the page/ap again (the facebook votematch one), says it's sponsored by the Daily Telegraph so could be possible right wing bias (questions seemed more aimed at that viewpoint compared to another one I tried) but shouldn't be though (didn't think the Telegraph was that right-wing:eek:), never heard of Unlock Democracy before but they don't sound like a BNP front - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unlock_Democracy

I didn't get BNP as my top results but apprently still match them for some things :( - could be because they appear (going by the bbc's policy comparing page and what I've read elsewhere) to be doing a good impression of sounding sensible/lefty/even green on some things (until you get to their views on ending Immigration, 'encouraging' repatriation, bringing back National Service, Corporal & Capitol Punishment...)
    eitherway it's worrying.

This is the problems with all political parties. theres views i agree and disagree on. Everyone here knows of my vote. I dont standup for all the BNP policies - such as the corporal punishment along with christian school assemblies. I do agree with capital punishment to an extent depending on wether the crime fits and evidence is beyond reasonable doubt. I do believe in national service though. im 26 this year and believe that National service should be restored for all young persons it has worked in Finland for many a year now. I think it would help with discipline problems with a lot of todays "youth". I do like some of their policies they offer and feel disenchanted by the 3 major parties and years or waste, ruin and greed.

Anyways thats my point over. As i said earlier to everyone my view is only my view and other peoples are just as valid as mine.

Gahh!!! That other link UKIP was the one I was LEAST matched up with. Looks like no one's gonna tell me who I should vote for, I'll just need to keep reading the blasted manifestos!

#3 on the previous one and #1 on this one was the party that I've voted for in the past, but am resisting voting for this time as I'm not feeling the love this time round. So I'm obviously still well matched in my overall views, but don't feel comfortable with them this time. What to do, eh?
