Best times to post on Ebay?

Hello,

being new to Ebay I was wondering is there a best time to list items on it and also, what people think is the best amount of time to leave an item selling for. Sorry if these seem very basic questions!:o

I like to have auctions finishing at a weekend, and in the evening... but not so late that people might be going to bed.

    Sunday 9-10pm works for me.

I used to think that 10 day auctions were good, but lately I've been wondering if people get bored waiting for the end of the auction, and forget to bid, or go elsewhere.

I think it depends on your target market. Check previous sales and see when they sell for the most. Although for most items it would appear evenings after about 8pm are good.

One caveat before listing check how many similar items are finishing around the time of your proposed sale. No point listing if 10 are finishing on the same evening. Find a slot when you are the only seller.

I have switched to BIN now and just tend to list as and when I have the time.
  • Fabulous advice guys! Thanks ever so much! I'll spend the next few days taking my pics so I'm all ready to post on Sunday!

    I love this place!

according to Zoo Magazine the best time for an auction to finish is a thursday night. The tv is crap (no v.good soaps on (women)) no football(wednesday nights(men)) and people go out on friday nights so most will have a quiet night in...hope that helped
Like what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:

  • For normal auctions start on a Thursday for 10 days gets you 2 weekends in which is really good. For Buy It Now's anytime is good but price your items a little higher with the BEST OFFER feature on it so people can offer you what they want for it.

  • I try to have all my auctions close around 9 - 10 on weekend nights.

I also use 5 days max, maybe 7 days occasionally if it is a high value item.

To me there seems no point in making them longer as, invariably, all the action on bidding usually takes place in the last half hour before it closes.

For most items I use Recorded delivery as well. That way your buyer cannot claim that they never received the item and claim a refund leaving you out of pocket.

For lower value items I always get a proof of posting for the same reason.
  • I did a months worth of research on this, and found the perfect time to end items.

I use this all the time now, and my sales have increased since.

I like Sunday evenings as well but the downside is that it is really popular so you can hit problems with ebay going slow. I've missed out on a few last minutes bids on a Sunday as I just couldn't get the bid to go through.

I used to use Thursday evenings a lot, but just recently Wednesday's have been better, so it is worth varying the times to see if a different pattern emerges over time.

I keep my p and P reasonable and send everything under £32 with a COP and everything over £32 special delivery. I would also think 99% of my aucitons are paid with by paypal.
