First time buyer

We are first time buyers in a nice position. We can afford to buy a house outright as long as it is below 85,000. We have cash to do this and was wondering if offering this for a house priced at 99,950 was acceptable? We thought that as we have literally no chain they might accept. Any ideas!!!

you can try. i would not start with 85k offer though as they're pretty much expected to reject the first offer. if you start with your maximum, you have nowhere to go.0

Doesn't hurt to try - you have nothing to lose !!!!
Depends on how much they want to sell, your chain free position may be very appealing !!
Good luck !!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
We are kind of in the same position.
We have seen a place for £80,000 and put in a first offer at £70k
We have a deposit of £55k and want to buy it for under £75k so that we can pay the offset off in under 18 months.
We are also no chain and the property is empty and needs full refurbishment.
We will go up in 1k stages0 -
i wish i had £85k in the back, whilst commendable, why do you not want a mortgage?0

I am afraid I wouldn't entertain an offer that low. The fact you are cash buyers will not make someone give their house away unless they are desperate.0
