I've had a stressful week - facing the debt and organising my finances so that we can reduce our outgoings. Feeling really proud of what I've acheived so far..thought i'd share it with you. Big thanks to everyone who has advised me over the last week. I'm looking forward to more kicks up the backside in the future
Reduced buildings and contents by £10/month
Reduced BT landline package by £15/month
Reduced SKY package by £14.50/month
Cut savings to childrens accounts for now and put the £40/month towards my debt
Reduced mobile bills by £20/month
life assurances reduced by £15/month
So my total saving per month is £154.
Joined quidco and have renewed our buildings and contents and car insurance through the links, should get £100 for that
Have switched current account through quidco which should give us £50, plus an interest free overdraft for a year and an interest free BT on their credit card.
I've listed a few bits on ebay too, with more waiting to be listed tomorrow when I've got more time to take photos.
I've also reduced my shopping bill by £40 a month so far. More savings to be made there too I'm sure.
The best thing of all is the feeling of control and the optimism that my debt will be a thing of the past eventually.

Its a great feeling isnt it when you finally feel in control. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Sounds like you and I have found this site at the same time!
Also, dont forget to use your club/loyalty cards when you do your shopping. I get £5 Tesco's coucher every month which is always handy.
A good way to save is taking packed lunch to work - Its saved me at least £60/month. Do your children take packed lunch to school?
Well done!:beer:0 -
Thanks
We are all home all day, so buying lunches while we are out isn't a problem. Children aren't old enough for school either, so no worry over school dinners etc yet.
Control is resumed and its a fantastic feeling. I feel more confident already.
My mission today is to review my loyalty cards. They'd gone by the wayside with the attitude of 'they don't save me much, can't be bothered'. But every penny helps so they'll be used again.

It really does all add up - if you shop online you can use your loyalty cards there too.0
