Changing home insurance whilst making a claim?

Hi all,
I've just had my renewal from Direct Line and it's gone up by over £200 for the year. The reason is because we've got a 2 claims going (although one we haven't even got quotes for yet and the other they hadn't received the quotes from us before they sent the renewal) and because we had an introductory 1st year 25% discount or something.
Is it possible to change insurers whilst having a claim open with Direct Line? And are Direct Line still liable to carry out the repairs it if we do change before they're done as they were insuring us at the time?
Thanks,

Yes you can switch but clearly you need to declare the 2 claims even though they are not settled yet.
The insurer liable for the losses is the one that covered the loss at the time of the event - it makes no difference to their liability if you switch insurers mid way through the claim (though some would say they are less likely to give guestures of good will etc if they have already lost your business)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Yes, you are able to change insurers though make sure you get some quotes before you tell Direct Line where to go. Many insurers won't want to insure you if you have had 2 claims in the last year (especially if they are expensive ones). When getting quotes make sure you disclose both claims even if one of them hasn't gone through yet ... in many situations your current insurer will work out best as they'd rather get some money back from you rather than nothing.
