PC Faxing

Can anyone recommend cheap or free software that would allow me to send and receive faxes via my PC over an internet connection?

Thanks

  • Its not software you need but a email to fax/fax to email provider. Not the cheapest, but I have been using for years https://www.j2.com.

I can send and receive faxes without any software etc., but I suppose that's because I am using XP and still have a dial-up modem.

Mind you, although sending faxes is straightforward, I think it's only practical for receiving occasional faxes by arrangement, as I have to be there to "accept" the fax rather than picking the phone up.

I did use fax with XP a few times, not too difficult to set up, yes I do remember having to put down the phone to receive a fax, but not to inconvenient for the occasional fax.

There is a Fax and Scan in Windows 7, but I've not got around to exploring it .

I use the faxing program with Windows 7 for sending faxes (using old dial-up modem) and have a fax to email incoming number, this is a local number that I set up with my VoIP provider (VoIP Talk), which at the time offered the local incoming number for free, however now it's £2.99 a month for new customers, they do however offer other numbers, there are other fax to email services out there too.

It's virtually the same as XP.

Cheers, I've not needed it, but from a quick look, I thought it was better laid out than XP version.
