My Building society cheque has not yet been cashed - interest enquiry

hi there, I've had to make a building society cheque for several thousand pounds from my savings account 3 months ago but for various delays out of my control it has not yet been encashed by the person to whom I made it payable. Getting a cheque was the only way to make the payment to them. Will I have lost interest on my savings from the moment the cheque was made out by the building society months ago or only from the date it is finally paid in? I've only found advice on receiving cheques not giving them out, this is my first post. Thanks in advance!

Funds from a building society cheque are removed from your account when it is drawn, not when it is presented.

You will not have earned interest on the amount of the cheque since the day it was withdrawn.
