holiday to budapest, shall i wait to book?

Hi me and some freinds are planning a short break to budapest departing 20/21st may to 23/24 may....(must be that weekend but a little flexible on departing and arriving days and times etc)

we are midlands based so any airport, birmingham/ east midlands/ coventry would be ideal, but would be prepared to fly from other airports if its a cheap deal...

my question is should i wait until closer to the time to book, and hope to get a better deal?

do ryanair do any cheap deals to budapest, and are any of these deal likely to show up anytime soon? id hate to pay £80-£120 for our flight only to find ryanair are doing a £10 sale a week later...

are there any other budget airlines that fly on this route that i should look out for?

all advice welcome....

thanks.

  • Sorry to be a pain, can i ask where you got such good prices for flights. I've been looking for June and it;s working out around £200 for indirect flights.

    Thanks in advance.

You just never know with Ryanair when the offers are going to be - you could be really lucky and when the offer changes on Friday there will be even more reduced flights - just checked based on your dates on Ryanair website and it's looking at just under £80 return but there are only 3 seats left at that price (don't know if that means the prices will go up or go down after that). Good luck and have fun!

If you can fly from an airport that Ryanair operates from (I used EMA as an example above) there are some quite good prices. For June out of EMA to Budapest prices are roughly the same (using 21 June-28 June) - just over £75 return per person - you just need to play with dates, airports and prices. However, these prices do not include baggage allowance (although you don't need much stuff on a short break). Again, have fun!

The reason I went to Budapest when I did was because Ryanair were doing flights to/from Glasgow Prestwick for £20 each way. I'd been monitoring the route for a while and it was the first time I'd seen the price drop so low (I've never seen £10 flights to/from Glasgow), I'm not sure about other airports though, I personally would just book now, as the prices are probably more likely to increase in price.
