EDF Prepayment Metre

Hi,

I have 2nd property which is currently empty. I had a Electric billing metre previously which has been changed to prepayment on 03/03.

As I said property is empty - during 29/11/09 to 03/03/10 I had my bill for £10.

The engineer provided me with £10 topup when metre was installed. From 03/03 to todate the metre has already taken the £10 + emergency credit.

Hows that possible when the property is empty and no electricity is being used.

With regard to Gas - this was changed to prepayment on 11/03 and had a credit of £11 in it - I checked it yesterday and it still had £10.83 remaining.

Gas is ok but the propblem is with the Electric metre. Any advise please?

Thanks
MS

    That much?

I have just looked at EDF website and they do have a fixed daily charge of 15.80p but still it does not add up to £15-20.

The £10 was probably emergency credit, not free electronics, so don't think it's as much we you say.

Standing charge is about £5/month based on my maths. Was anything left on? Fridge, freezer, clocks, water heater:..

Nothing was on. £10 which engineer top up for me was not emergency credit. They billed me £10 on my final bill. Once the £10 was used - the metre automatically went on using the emergecy cr.

    Pendants corner.

The device for measuring your electricity/gas consumption is a Meter.

A Metre is a unit of length.

    Spell-checkers huh!

You can turn all the electrics off, at the fuse box? See if the meter still ticks down (other than daily standing charge)?

A spell checker will not pull either of these words up because they are both spelled correctly;)

Let me advice you, young man. It is a gas/leccy metre and it is pronunced metray. It is a sign of ignorinse to talk about a gas/leccy meter, pronunced meturr.

Gas/leccy metre, pronounced metray. Always has been.
