survey query

Hi,

We have just had an offer accepted on a lovely house and are very excited.:j

As there was a lot of interest in this house I feel we were very lucky to get our offer accepted and so want to make sure it all goes through ok. To show how keen we are I want to get the survey booked asap. Should I wait until we receive the offer acceptance in writing before contacting the surveyor? I just can't believe it was accepted so wanted to see it in writing first!

The house is a 1930's semi-detached house and to my inexperienced eye looks to be in reasonable condition, so we were thinking that a Homebuyers report would be fine for the survey. The house has been extended with planning permission and building regs, would this kind of alteration
warrant a more extensive survey?

Thanks

I would go for a full structural I bought a typical 1930's semi and it turned out to be sliding down the hill.

oh dear - maybe we should get a full one then for peace of mind - although wouldn't something like that be found in a homebuyers report (subsidence etc)?

I am keen to get the surveyors in asap to show that we are serious and also to find out about any potential problems sooner rather than further down the line - should we wait until we receive the notification of sale or book it now?

Book it now and a) you show you're serious and b) you make an infintessimal impact on the speed of sale.

Wait and you save yourself the fees if the vendor changes their mind.
