    Hey Tallie! Welcome back! Didnt recognise you with the name change, are you incognito :cool:

    You are in a good place to start, with the small things thread, we will ease you in gently :D

    Boiler seems a bit steep??? Having no idea about prices....surely a new one wouldnt cost that much?!? If they are that much to fix then I never want one!! :eek:
  • Hey, yeah the old login got deleted not sure why. The system i have is run on water supply and electric. So i need an electrictian and a plumber which is why the cost is so high. The bloke is doing it cash so its cheaper too.

    Total mess! Ive just started making batches of sausage and veg caasseroles for lunches at work. First step bring in own lunches! I have a new job as a teacher near my home so i save on travel costs strait away.
    Im sorting out all the cupboards right now coz i have tons stuff there.
    Im getting 2 kittens next week too, already paid for. Need £200 for thier injections. But this was already planned few weeks ago x

    Oooo £200 ouchy! Have a search about, sometimes vets have amnesty weeks where you can get reduced jabs for your pets. Dont forget the dreaded pet insurance, you will be thankful you have it!

    Have a look at yesterdays thread for my cupboard/fridge/freezer inventory....I knew I had quite a bit, but its quite scary!! I have challenged myself to try and just buy milk, bread and some fresh bits each week for April, my GC will look fab if I manage it lol.
  • Hi Tilly sorry saw ur msg earlier but was at work so couldn't take the "pee" too much ;)

    Don't know what to suggest re the boiler as live in rented and its the landlord's respon. Looks like its a done deal already though so no suggestions there then...

    As you've already been on here there's probably not a lot of advice I can give other than this thread, some of the challenges (I've paid an additional £50 off my debt this month, through this daily thread, March lunch challenge, weekly spend challenge :A)

    Is there any way you can up your income for a bit? Have a spare room you can rent out to foreign students over the summer? Can you do some tutoring to raise some extra cash - alot of kids (or more aptly their parents) close to GCSE time would be willing to pay for your time? Flog anything and everything on ebay?

    oh also in my area there is a charity called "The lord whiskey foundation" which has a vet go in twice a week and ppl on low income can take their animals, it used to be £5 for a consultation and meds at cost price

    Thinking of u :)
    DF as at 30/12/16
    Wombling 2026: £25.70
    Grocery spend challenge Feb £285.11/£250
    GC annual £389.25/£2700
    Eating out budget: £ 48.87/£300
    Extra cash earned 2026: £185

    Hi chaps :) on ferry on way home

    My small things.......
    Used tesco cc gift vouchers to help pay for a mammoth storecupboard shop
    used mr t for all petrol spends and topped up before on ferry to get cc points and cheap petrol
    walked dog at beach
    sorted out purse and found a triple point voucher which expired yesterday :( pants
    got massive bag tea lights in diy store
    texted OH and kids using free texts
    took home small travel bottlesfrom hotel to refill
    took a goodly handful of sachets of sauces and napkins when having lunch at mr t for the campervan
    picked up some reduced bread, milk and crumpets for freezing

    later need to unload car and sort out shopping (I did a store cupboard top up which should last 6-12 months) so that might take a bit of putting away!!

    I hope u are all great tallie sorry to hear about boiler......
    Xx

    Hi, well today we've just returned from a weekend away in Wales, so this is what I've done:
    • Made lunch with the leftover sandwich supplies we bought for the bank holiday weekend;
    • Checked online banking;
    • Made HM potato wedges and fish instead of having a takeaway;
    • Got away with buying Half-price Easter eggs for friend's kids as we only saw them later today and called into supermarket on our way home from Wales.
    • Done a meal plan for the week ahead.
    • Read all meters so I'll be able to keep track of them and hopefully reduce our utilities spend.
    I think thats it, but I'm newly determined to keep on top of my spending as I've just started a new job earning much less than before.
