Boots that have developed a hole after 3/4 months

Hi all!
I bought some boots from BHS in the new year sale and love them. I started wearing them in Feb for a couple of days each week and now the heel part (they are flats) has developed a hole which lets stones in and water.
Am I within my rights to say they are faulty or is it just bad luck and tough luck!

P.S. Think I have the receipt somewhere but if not, I bought them on my card, so it will be on a statement somewhere x
