Lost DVD picture

I don't know if this is best place to post.....
I have a Yamada 5520 dvd player which generally has been working fine. had a dvd in and as usual the TV defaults to it and played ok. came back to dvd a few days later (hadn't seen all of movie) and TV no longer defaults. I have found it on AV2 with no picture at all but some audio and can't see any errors. Have checked all the connections which seem fine. Any suggestions on what I could do next (apart from buy a brand new one....
)? Am hooked up to a Sony VCR - SE730 and Sony digital TV.

last time this happened to me it was a loose connection - you could try unplugging everything and then plugging it back in??The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

I've unplugged the dvd itself a couple of times but that didn't work.....is it worth turning all the components off though?.....just trying it now...0
