i'm just curious how are peoples peonies looking?
mine have small green leaves but apart from that look exactly like they did when they arrived.
maybe its just mine underperforming but i thought they'd grow more by now or is this normal?0 -
Mine put on a lot of growth and is looking healthy and bushy. The leaves are soft and green but no flowers, I don't expect to produce them this year. Still really pleased with it, it sits next to the back door so I can watch its progress.0

I was wondering this myself as mine is exactly the same size as when I planted it. I does have green leaves on it but apart from that it is not doing anything. I looked it up and it did say it was slow growing so hopefully next year it will be biggerLife is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -
glad it wasn't just mine and that they are supposed to grow slowly
mscrow have you been adding fertiliser or anything as yours seem to be growing faster?0 -
The one I planted earlier in the year, directly into the garden (into the site of an old fire pit), is doing really well, lots of growth and It looks as if it may flower next year.
The two I planted in pots at a later date have the same sort of growth rate as others are mentioning. One of mine was one of the ones that looked like a completely dead twig, the new growth is coming from the bottom of the plant now. so I might cut back the old stems in the autumn.
A neighbour has a three year old one. It had to be cut back last year as it had grown so much (she wants it low and bushy) and it blossomed really well both last year and this, it is looking beatiful right now.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
