Backdating FTB Stamp Duty Holiday

Hi,
I've created a petition on the number10 website to see if i can get a response from them regarding backdating the stamp duty changes to 1st January. If nothing else i'd like a justification from them as to why they left the first three months of this year out of the previous and new stamp duty holidays.
If you wouldn't mind signing the below petition it'd be much appreciated:
Thanks,
Mark.

I realise it sucks for you but....
You were prepared to buy house with stamp duty on.. and have paid it... its not like it stopped you buying.
The idea of stamp duty break is to encourage.... new FTBers (like me and wife who were holding off... while you purchased because of costs involved) to buy.... not those who would've bought anyways.0 -
Just because its cost you a few quid you have started a petition, would have done it if you hadnt bought this year, i bought last year is there any chance you can set a petition to take it back to january 2009?
Just accept it youve paid and you aint getting it back, why dont you go and chain youself to the gates of parliment?0 -
Thanks... we didn't have much choice, we were ready to complete last sepember - but were held up by the rest of the chain. We were faced with the choice of either completing in Feb or losing the house we'd spent 12 months finding. As i said in the original post, i was hoping for a justificatiion more than anything else. We really srtuggled finding that extra 1% on the 172k - to the point where we haven't actually moved in yet...
I'd just like to know the governments reasons for not continuing the last holiday more than anything else, for the sake of a couple of months.
Ta,

You choose when to buy, tax and tax relief shouldn't be retrospective.
I'm against the petition, sorry:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

You would be better off spending your time decorating your new house.0

Why stop at back-dating to Jan? What about the poor sod who completed on Dec 31st? Bit hard on him!
Oh, and remember when VAT was reduced last year? I'd just bought a new fridge and paid VAT at 17.5%. If I'd thought I could've started a petition to get the VAT reduction back-dated....0 -

The previous stamp duty holiday ended 1st January...0 -
can you start a petition for those poor folks that bought a house on say Dec 30th for over the previous 0% threshold but below the new one?
This is like the folks in the rant/consumer board where a price has gone down and they now want the new price.0
